When we installed the spool this week noticed the passenger adjuster only adjusts passenger Axel play now. When it did both before. I go to the machine shop he said not to worry about it they dint make adjusters for the them anymore. He said do you have another set of axles? We will make both sides without adjusters and your done.

Now the right side adjusts fine but the driver moves in and out way to much for me. First time we put the brakes on, it took the spring kit off the backing plate! Angry Now this has probably been done before. Why not use the adjuster on the driver side also? Undecided

Choices what about those green barrings or is it a waste of money? More to come on this soon Don

Gonna need the Green bearings. Axle end play adjustment is out the window when you put in a spool. The stock rear end has a thrust block in the differential that the axles butt up to. It can slide from side to side and that's why you only have one axle adjuster. The adjuster moves both axles and the thrust block to take up the slack caused by differences in axle length and manufacturing tolerances to get the right preload on the stock tapered axle bearings. The Green bearings don't need any preload since they are not a tapered bearing. The swap shouldn't cause any problems since Ford 9 inch rears have been using this type of axle bearings since 1957 without much discussion about axle bearing failures.

just don't back up too fast and turn the steering too sharply or too quickly...............cracked one of those green things doing just that...........LOL* that's why the stock bearings are tapered. definitely don't try any twisty turny road race stuff...........those bearings are for drag racing.

Well the spring kit did not come off the backing this time, after installing the green barrings a little while back new 1 3/4" shoes, drums, wheel cyl's. This thing will stop on a dime!! smoothly Ready to get back to the track. The Axel's are large bolt pattern now, we should have a set of Green Barrings's for my small bolt pattern Axel's soon. Then I will put my correct rims back on the back. At the track I think that's OK but not on the street or show no, JMO. Shocked
